STE 2026

March 11-13, 2026; Brasov/Romania

The 23rd International Conference on Smart Technologies & Education (STE 2026) took place under the motto " The Synergy of Smart Industry and Education: Preparing for Tomorrow's Workforce " at the Transilvania University of Brașov/Romania.

The STE2026 conference was very well attended with 160 participants from 33 countries. A wide variety of scientific presentations took place in four parallel sessions. EWA members contributed 11 papers and one keynote address. The conference was excellently organized by the University of Transilvania and, in addition to high-quality scientific presentations, offered a diverse supporting program including an industry exhibition, a scientific jam session, and other cultural and social highlights.

On the second day of the conference, the EWA Young Talent Award was presented. The six best submitted projects were invited as nominees to STE2026. The projects were presented in the EWA Forum. A jury selected two winners from these six projects.

1st Prize, nominated with €1000:

Title: 4SPACE Uniovi - From Classroom Theory to Space-Grade Engineering

Submitted by: Student team of University of Oviedo/Spain

2nd Prize, nominated with €500:

Title: Design and Implementation of a PLC-Based Intelligent Staggered Power-Supply Control System

Submitted by: Student team of RUI de Internationa Colleg in Zhegnzhou/China

The EWA Young Talent Award was funded by the Phoenix Contact Foundation.
STE2027 will take place from February 25th to 27th, 2027 at Burapha University in Bangkok.

New promotional video

At the international conference Smart Technology & Education 2026 in Brasov in March 2026, we will be showing our new promotional video for EWA for the first time.

Memorandum of understanding

The Chairman of the EWA (R. Langmann) and the Vice Chairman (K. Hengsbach) visited the Shandong Shenghan Vocational College of Finance and Trade (SSVCFT) in September 2025. A memorandum of understanding was signed regarding EWA's support of the college in establishing a practice-oriented and certified training center for Automation Technology.

The EWA Office in China (Henan) is open

On July 14, 2025, the EWA received its business license to operate the EWA Office in China (Henan). Mr. Mingshen Fu from our member institution RUI de International Colleg, is the authorized representative for China. The office is located at the RUI de International College in Zhengzhou.

German-Chinese Partnership Promotes Digital Talent Development and Industrial Innovation in Henan Province

On May 8, 2025, a Letter of Intedn was signed in Düsseldorf between ASC Ausbildung & Service GmbH, logiccloud AG, and Edunet World Association e.V. The aim of this partnership is to provide targeted training for young talents in China’s Henan Province in the field of digital transformation of industrial production and Industry 4.0. As part of a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government, the partners are also committed to supporting innovative international start-ups – including logiccloud from Germany – in contributing to the modernization of industry in Zhengzhou and the wider Henan region through their business activities.

 

General Meeting on April 23, 2025

The repeated General Meeting took place online on April 23. Fourteen EWA members were present. A revised Statute and a new Contribution Rules were unanimously adopted. Both documents are available for download on the EWA website.

STE 2025

April 9-11, 2025; Santiago de Chile/Chile

The 22nd International Conference on Smart Technologies & Education (STE 2025) took place under the motto "Smart Technologies for an All-Electric Society" at the Instituto Profesional de la Fundación Duoc UC in Santiago de Chile.

Within the STE2025, the STE-EWA Industry and Practice Forum took place as a prominent special session.

The EWA Forum featured presentations organized by EWA and Phoenix Contact/EduNet and industry workshops.” 143 participants registered for STE2025.

Alphabots Challenge 2024 in Alexandria

We are delighted that the Alphabots Challenge 2024, supported by EWA, was successfully completed in Alexandria, Egypt. The competition was co-organized by our member Alexandria Training & Engineering Services Center.

All Electric Society International Summit 2024

(AES 2024)

The All Electric Society International Summit on Electric Mobility through Smart Cities will take place in Gijon (SPAIN) from September 19th to 20th, 2024. At the invitation of the conference, our chairman will present the EWA and its current activities at the Summit.

Sino-German Intelligent Manufaturing Training Base

On May 9, 2024, the signing ceremony for the "Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing Training Base" project between the Zhengzhou University Industrial Technology Research Institute and the Bejing SWP Intelligence Invfestment Consulting Co., Ltd. took place at our EWA member RuiDe International College in Zhengzhou (China).

The Chairman of the EWA, Prof. Dr.-Ing. R. Langmann, gave a speech on this project ceremony and explained the EWA's support for this project. Among other things, it is planned that the EWA will support the internationalization of this project and be involved in the certification of corresponding training and further education courses.

STE 2024

March 6 - 8, 2024; Arcada University, Helsinki/Finland

The Steering Committees of the EduNet Conference, the IEWC and the REV decided in Thessaloniki to merge all three conferences into a new conference, the International Conference on Smart Technologies & Education (STE), from 2024 onwards.

Within the STE2024, the EduNet Forum took place as a prominent special session (our previous annual EduNet Conference). The EduNet Forum featured presentations organized by Phoenix Contact/EduNet Forum Committee and industry workshops.

134 participants registered for STE2024. Here are some impressions from the conference:

All STE papers are published with Springer in the series Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems.

Phoenix Contact STE Student Award

The digital transformation in the context of the fourth industrial revolution can only succeed with the leadership and participation of young engineers. For the STE2024, the best young engineering students, especially from the fields of Automation and Information Technology, were being sought worldwide and honoured with the Phoenix Contact STE Student Award.

The nominees were:

  • Project “Less Water Urinal“ by Akash Pradeep et al., FISCAT, India
  • Project “Intelligent Air Handling Unit Based on Digital Twins” by Wanlin Zhang et al., Wanlin, Tongij University, China
  • Project “HoloLEIV - AR Based Setup and Operation of Inline Robotic Systems” by Benedikt Tobias Müller, TH Dortmund, Germany

The winner ist Benedikt Tobias Mueller of TU Dortmund.
